Admission requirements

Language requirement

All applicants must demonstrate a strong command of English by successfully completing a mandatory entrance exam. The entrance exam evaluates candidates’ English skills. It is administered by Ghent University’s “Centrum voor Talenonderwijs” (University Language Center). Students must achieve a score of C1 or better. The following applicants are exempted from the language prerequisite:
  1. applicants with an Internet-based TOEFL-TEST (IBT), less than two years old, with a minimum score in the band 110-119; test takers should mention the UGent “institution code” 2643, so that the score can be sent to Ghent University directly.
  2. applicants with an original “test report form” (TRF) from IELTS, less than two years old, with an overall minimum score of 7.0, and at least 7.0 on the spoken component.
  3. applicants who possess a diploma of secondary education awarded by a (recognised) institution in the Flemish Community
  4. applicants who possess a higher education degree awarded by a (recognised) institution of higher education in the Flemish Community

Degree requirement

Since the program is situated at "Ma-na-Ma" level, applicants with a higher education degree awarded in the Flemish Community must have an MA degree by the start of classes. For all international students, it is the responsibility of the Program Director to assess applicants' suitability for the program: a good bachelor-level degree, a persuasive motivation, and a strong command of English will be the key criteria.
