Ivan Van de Cloot
Ivan Van de Cloot studied economics at the University of Antwerp and was after that two years research assistant at the University in the field of public finances. Next he contributed as a consultant to the liberalization of electricity and gas markets in Belgium. He next worked for six years as senior economist at the economics department at the bank ING. Apart from business cycle analysis he specialized in structural analysis of the Belgian and European economies. He received a complete training as banker. Apart from pensions, he covered topics as the liberalization of railways, the economics of immigration, entrepreneurship and health care. As a commentator for financial and economic news, he appears frequently in written and audio-visual media. He has a column in the financial newspaper de Tijd. He coordinates the research at Itinera Institute for which he collaborates with academics from different universities. He also very frequently gives lectures in Belgium and abroad. Ivan Van de Cloot has been Guest Professor for three academic years at the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel in the advanced programme Master of International Business Economics and Management. He completed many projects for Itinera on such diverse topics as the finances of municipalities and the sensibilisation of the Belgian stakeholders of the new European Semester for the European Commission.
